I am evaluating your product to see if it can replace what I am using now which is awful buggy.

As a software developer I plan to link each time entry to a task which represents a ticket on Systems like Atlassian Jira.

How can I export the detailed time entries as a CSV including the linked tasks? I can't find any column which includes this Information. Every entry will have a description, so this field can't be used to enter the task.

Regards

Hello Antonio!
You should be able to see descriptions in your exported .csv
First, choose Detailed Report, then select a project
http://prntscr.com/kgiyp9
Clicking Apply Filter will show you the results
http://prntscr.com/kgizjz
You can choose the information to be shown in the report
http://prntscr.com/kgj037
The resulting .csv will show all the selected fields including links to external tasks (Trello instead of Jira in my example)

Please let me know if this information is helpful

Hi Vladimir,

I gave Jira as an example, but I usually create the task manually.

Then Tmetric can export URLs to external tasks. Is there a posibility to export the name of internal tasks?

Below you can see the export from my tests. The time entries with descriptions Test* have been linked to internal tasks. The ones below also, but they have the name of the task in the description field, which isn't what I need.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Antonio

Hi Antonio,
I'm sorry for not responding earlier.
Indeed, no links to internal tasks are created.
Please let me know why exactly you need this functionality.
A detailed description of your particular use case would be helpful.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Vladimir

Hi Vladimir,

as a freelance software developer in Germany I need to prepare a time sheet with my worked hours. Most customers expect from me to include in every time entry:

  • Start and End time. This is posible with Tmetric.
  • Project including Account Booking Code, this is usually the internal code of the proyect. This is posible with Tmetric.
  • Ticket number
  • Ticket title
  • Description of the tasks done. This is posible with Tmetric.

I wanted to represent the tickets as internal tasks to generate this time sheet at the end of the month. And at the same time use the description to describe in detail what I was doing like "Checking the prices were imported correctly after the deployment".

For some customer I could use external tasks from Jira. But other have internal ticketing system. I need a solution with work on both cases.

Ist there a way to use Tmetric to enter this information and generate the time sheet at the end of the month?

After I generate the CSV file, I use AWK to group the time entries, parse the tags to extract additional information like onsite and offsite hours and generate a CSV with the format expected by every customer.

Hi Antonio
If I understand you correctly, you would like to be able to display the description of time entries in the exported reports
It's definitely possible
Here is a CSV sample that corresponds to the time entry
Please let me know if this is what you need.

Hi Vladimir,

Let's use your example time entry. This task belongs to the Ticket BW-8521 "changes in the prices don't show up in the Shop".

How would you add this Ticket's Code and title to your sample time entry?

Hello Antonio!
Let's see, if we can make this happen. This is what I did
-  I created a Project
- then, I created a new Work Type
- when I start a time entry, I describe it as "changes in the prices don't show up in the Shop" and
- choose the  Project and Work Type
- when I generate a Task Summary and export it to CSV, I can see this information
This way, to an internal task, you will be able to include both the ticket number and the description.

Please let me know if this may serve as a solution.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
