Why Regular Members Can See Each Other’s Activity Logs?

If you’ve noticed that regular members in your workspace can see each other’s activity logs or time entries in the Task Summary report, even though they don’t have admin or manager permissions - don’t worry, this behaviour has an explanation.

Explanation

In TMetric, visibility of time entries depends on whether a project is public or private.

Public projects

A public project is a project that has no members added.
In this case:

  • Any member of the workspace can log time to that project.

  • Logged time is visible to all members of the workspace.

  • Regular members can also configure general settings and work types for the project (optional).

Private projects

A private project is a project that has assigned members.
In this case:

  • Only assigned members can log time to the project.

  • Logged time is visible only to the workspace owner, admins, and the assigned project manager.

  • Regular members cannot see each other’s time in reports.

  • Only the workspace owner and admins can configure all project settings, while the assigned project manager can edit most settings except billing.

How to Check

To identify which projects allow users to see each other’s time:

  1. Open the Task Summary report.

  2. Click on a user from the list.

  3. Check the project related to their time entries — these are likely public projects.

How to Fix

To restrict visibility of time entries:

  1. Open the relevant project in TMetric.

  2. Add at least one member to the project to make it private.

After converting the project to private, regular members will no longer be able to see other users’ logged time in reports.

Thank you for your understanding.
