The Difference Between Purchased Seats and Active Users in TMetric

TMetric’s subscription model is based on the number of seats (user licenses) you purchase—not the number of users actively working in your workspace. This means you are billed for the total number of seats, regardless of how many are currently in use.

Key Points

1. You Pay for Seats, Not Active Users

When you subscribe, you purchase a set number of user seats (e.g., 20 seats). These seats remain reserved for your workspace and are billed accordingly, even if some of the users are deactivated later.

Example: If you deactivate 5 users, you are still paying for all 20 seats.

2. Replacing Users Doesn’t Change Billing

If you deactivate some users and later invite new ones, the new users will occupy the available seats you've already paid for. As long as the number of active users does not exceed the number of purchased seats, no additional charges will apply.

Example: You deactivate 5 users and invite 3 new ones — total active users = 18, still within the 20-seat plan.

Managing Your Subscription

If your active team is consistently smaller than the number of seats you've purchased, you may want to reduce the number of seats to better match your actual usage. This can help you avoid unnecessary charges.
